Bernie Sanders Democratic Socialism is good for the country...Here's why...

There is a huge difference between traditional Socialism and Democratic Socialism. The former can employ violence to implement revolution and could border on Communism. The latter invokes only legislative efforts for its revolution and is in no way connected to Communism. As the above illustrates, Democratic Socialism is a return from emphasis on the upper class of this country, namely the wealthy and large corporations, to the people.

Here is a short definition of Democratic Socialism...
"Democratic socialism is a political philosophy supporting political democracy within a socially owned economy, with a particular emphasis on workers' self-management and democratic control of economic institutions within a market socialist economy or some form of a decentralised planned socialist economy."
If you want a complete explanation of the ideology, go to the Democratic Socialists of America site HERE. If Bernie gets the nomination and ends up running against Donald Trump, the Oval Office lunatic will do everything he can to paint the Bern as a full-blown Socialist with the elements of hostility and violence that go with this political theory in places like China and Russia. Not so. Here's Business Insider's take...
"'Socialist' remains a dirty, and often misunderstood, term in the realm of US politics. The Cold War, in which animosity and paranoia toward the Soviet Union was pervasive in the US, is largely to thank for that. Nearly 21% of Americans consider socialism to be a threat to the US, according to Insider polling from last summer."
Bernie Sanders talks about Democratic Socialism...

Hey, folks, you've heard this before. We already have our versions of Socialism in Medicare, the Post Office and Social Security, to name a few. Bernie is suggesting a modern version, but things like Medicare for All, free college and an equality in wages don't sound so bad to me. Here's a headline with an article following that does a good job of separating the two...
"Letters to the Editor: I escaped communism. Bernie Sanders’ democratic socialism isn’t communism"
This is a direct quote from the author...
"I lived under socialism in the 1950s and escaped from it during the bloody Hungarian Revolution in 1956. Socialism in that form stinks."
That's the kind of Socialism Trump would like for us to think Bernie Sanders espouses, but it couldn't be further from the truth. Bernie's attack on our democracy is just to level the playing field, turning all the emphasis from the wealthy and large corporations to the people. The Bern is the current Robin Hood of politics, wanting to take what is fair from the rich and give it to the poor. If you think that is wrong, then you are probably a billionaire or big business.

Here's advice from the LA Times...
"If the self-described democratic socialist secures the nomination, he should do everything he can to distance himself from the concept of “socialism” as opposed to “democratic socialism.” Sanders’ plan of increased spending on healthcare, infrastructure and education (supported by practically all European governments) is not the same as Soviet-style (or Venezuelan or Cuban) socialism."
Remember John F. Kennedy, a Catholic who won the presidency, with a public afraid he would let the church sway his decisions in governing? Well, it didn't, and his assassination probably preempted one of the potentially best presidential  administrations we might ever have had. Don't "assassinate" Bernie Sanders likelihood of changing this country back to one that is by the people and for the people. Give it a chance, folks.

UPDATE: Trumps own aides even hate him...

Monday June 17, 2019

Bernie Sanders re-explains Democratic Socialism with a focus on Donald Trump and the Bern's "new vision to bring our people together in the fight for justice, decency, and human dignity, this is that time.” Obviously a jab at Trump for the way he has belittled the United States, making it the laughingstock of the world. 400 Current, former cops members of hate groups on Facebook "that were anti-Islamic, Confederate, anti-women, or anti-government." From Chicago to Mississippi, more than 50 departments have launched internal investigations. Read more.

Clinton confessed before impeachment-will Trump? But the real question is will impeachment backfire on Democrats? Nancy Pelosi is downplaying impeachment, but other democrats are fanning the flames and making their own moves. The left must win the White House in 2020, along with the Senate and keep the House. Besides, what good would it do with Mitch McConnell sitting in the chair. Read more.

Should we ban the old farts from the presidency? Joe Biden is 76, Bernie Sanders 77, Donald Trump 73. On the other hand, Nancy Pelosi is 79, Mitch McConnell 77. Today, Democratic politicians are generally older than their Republican counterparts but those in the Dem wings are much younger like Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris and Pete Buttigieg. For my money, Bernie Sanders outshines them all in sharpness, but not in the polls. Read more.

Democrats win in racial gerrymandering case. SCOTUS dismissed a challenge to a lower court decision saying some of Virginia’s legislative districts were racially gerrymandered. This could radically change the Virginia legislature, and a move that has caught on nationwide. Republicans caught Democrats with their pants down when former DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz wasn't watching the store. Read more.

Trumps own aides even hate him. An excellent example of why in a recent ABC interview during which T-rump halted the interview to order his Chief of Staff Mike Mulvaney out of the Oval Office for coughing while Trump answered a question about turning over his financial records. "New York Times reporter Nick Confessore said the tone of the president’s voice was harsh and cruel." And this is the man you pathetic misinformed followers elected that has his finger on the button.

Democratic Socialists are here to stay

Bernie Sanders v. Koch Bros.
It won't go away. Bernie Sanders was the first to use it in a political campaign,  Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has shown it can win an election. "It" is Democratic Socialism and this conviction has been sweeping the country since the 2016 Presidential election. A certain group, namely Progressives, have decided that the inequality that exists across the U.S is not good for the country,,,and it isn't. There's wage inequality, homelessness, gender pay and seventeen more listed and explained in the Stanford Center on Poverty & Equality study. The Democratic Socialists of America do a good job of explaining their mission. It is beyond me how anyone, especially the wealthy, can stand by and let this inequality flourish.

FDR was a Democratic Socialist

In case you don't know, or didn't remember, Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a Democratic Socialist and served an unprecedented four terms in office. Bernie Sanders is a Democratic Socialist but only wants to serve two terms as President. That's what the law says now, and it is probably as good for the person in office as it is for the American people. It is interesting how Presidents age while serving, most evident by their hair turning grey during their tenure. Bernie Sanders doesn't have to worry about that.

In a Politico article, it reported that "...Roosevelt implemented a series of programs that put millions of people back to work, took them out of poverty, and restored our faith in government." Sanders added, "He transformed the country, and that is what we have to do today." Do you see the parallels between the political philosophy of these two men. Each is for the working man, the impoverished and the middle class.

“And, by the way, almost everything he proposed, almost every program, every idea, was called ’socialist,'" Bernie proudly exclaims. It is obvious that Bernie Sanders has removed the tarnish from the once forbidden "S" word, and transformed its meaning so that, even back in 2010, a Gallup Poll found that 36% of Americans have a positive image of socialism.

So, those of you out there that are old enough to remember or who have studied FDR and think Sanders can't win because he is a Democratic Socialist, think again.

WHO SAYS BERNIE SANDERS CAN'T WIN?

Sen. Bernie Sanders is running for President as a Democrat, when actually he is an independent from Vermont whose political philosophy is Democratic Socialism. Finally, a Progressive. An MSNBC article says it is important that he run, even if he can't win. I think he can win. Progressives have ultimately realized that the only way we can get what we want is to come out and vote to elect the President and Congress that will get it done. Actually there were 70 Democratic Socialists counted in the Congress in 2010, among them Raúl M. Grijalva of AZ, Dennis Kucinich, OH, Elijah Cummings, MD, John Lewis, GA, Ed Markey, MA, Charles Rangel, NY, Maxine Waters, CA, and of course Bernie Sanders. You can see them all here. Now that's pretty impressive and a good number to start with for 2016. What you Progressives have to understand is that you are not alone. Our views aren't anti-American like some conservatives would have you believe. They are right for this country and it is time that they are expressed nationally.

HOW DO YOU BREAK DOWN $13.5 TRILLION TOTAL U.S. INCOME...FAIRLY?

Okay, so I'm a Democratic Socialist who believes in spreading the wealth. Apparently I and that philosophy have failed miserably when a man can work for the U.S. Senate, earn only $360 a week, and is homeless. We're not in a 3rd -world country and this is taking place on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol, a symbol of equality for all. So much for symbols and so much for the founders of this country who couldn't possibly have imagined this would happen. Why is it the norm to neglect others on your way to being successful and wealthy? So here's my solution to the whole mess. Total annual U.S. income is around $13.5 trillion. There are 116.7 million households in this country. If my math is correct, that is $114,000 for each family. I can hear the mansion and yacht folks screaming now but I can also see the smiles on those kids' faces who haven't eaten in a couple of days.

AMRERICAN DEMOCRACY v. DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISM

According to Wikipedia, a Democracy is a form of government in which all eligible citizens participate equally—either directly or indirectly through elected representatives—in the proposal, development, and creation of laws. But we all knew that since we have lived in what is supposed to be a democratic society for all our lives. Democratic Socialists believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically to meet human needs, not to make profits for a few. Sounds like both sides agree, sorta, but the differences arise in the implementation of the political philosophy. If there is anyone in the U.S. that believes the people are in control of our government, then they simply have their head in the sand. The elected representatives of the United States Congress have one common goal in what they do...get reelected. Canada is a social democracy and so is Great Britain, as well as many other European countries. Many have modified the philosophy to fit their needs but it works.
